Amidst an era of increasing global interconnectedness, Vietnam and Qatar are strengthening their diplomatic and economic ties, as evidenced by the recent celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha. This event underscored the growing cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing shared values such as peace, dialogue, and international collaboration.
The celebration, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, was attended by senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, highlighting the importance that both countries place on their bilateral relationship. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep took the opportunity to emphasize Vietnam’s development progress and the enhancement of its international relations, particularly with Qatar.
Vietnam and Qatar have enjoyed diplomatic relations since 1993, and their partnership has flourished across multiple sectors including trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications. Reflecting this growing engagement, bilateral trade between the two nations reached approximately $423 million by 2025, showcasing expanding business interactions and investment opportunities.
High-level exchanges have been a cornerstone of this dynamic relationship, exemplified by the visit of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both countries have expressed a mutual interest in further developing their economic partnerships, signaling a commitment to intensifying collaborative efforts in the future.
