Vietnam, Japan Aim to Boost Economic Collaboration Between Political and Business Leaders

Date:

In a recent meeting in Hanoi, officials from Vietnam and Japan reiterated their dedication to enhancing cooperation between their respective ruling parties and legislative bodies. The discussions were held between Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official from the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

The two nations celebrated the ongoing strengthening of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has been bolstered by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam earlier this year. They emphasized their intention to further political dialogue and parliamentary exchanges, aiming to build on the foundation laid by recent diplomatic engagements.

Nguyễn Duy Ngọc emphasized Vietnam’s robust economic growth and the ongoing reforms in its administrative processes. He suggested that Japan could share its expertise in local governance and decentralization, aiding Vietnam’s efforts in institutional development. Moreover, he advocated for broader cooperation in several key areas, including human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.

An appeal was also made for stronger ties between the countries’ parliamentary friendship groups and more exchanges that involve young lawmakers. The Vietnamese side sought continued support for the Vietnamese community residing in Japan and proposed easing visa procedures, with a long-term vision of establishing visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens.

Hagiuda Koichi voiced his support for expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation. He assured that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and its parliament would persist in promoting exchanges and joint projects focused on advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy, underlining the mutual benefits of such collaborations.
