As part of this initiative, Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm emphasized the importance of the evolving partnership between the two nations and highlighted the milestone achieved when Côte d’Ivoire became Vietnam’s leading trading partner in Africa in 2025. He advocated for extending cooperation and diversifying trade to include products beyond the traditional staples of cashew nuts and rice.
The Vietnamese government has expressed a keen interest in fostering investment partnerships in a variety of areas, including agriculture, telecommunications, oil and gas, digital transformation, and cybersecurity. Additionally, sectors like infrastructure, mineral processing, and electric vehicles have been identified as avenues for potential collaboration. Such initiatives are expected to solidify economic ties and create opportunities for growth in both countries.
On the other side, Côte d’Ivoire is eager to attract Vietnamese enterprises and aims to broaden cooperation within the West African region. This move is seen as an opportunity to bolster economic development and solidify ties not only with Vietnam but also with other countries in the region. The focus is on creating a mutually beneficial environment that encourages business and economic collaboration.
Both countries have also discussed the importance of strengthening exchanges between their parliaments, enhancing educational opportunities, developing workforce skills, and fostering people-to-people connections. These discussions underline a shared commitment to building a robust and multifaceted partnership that extends beyond economic interests.
