In a move to bolster bilateral ties, Singapore Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong recently traveled to Brunei to partake in Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 80th birthday celebrations. Both leaders used this occasion to reaffirm their dedication to enhancing cooperation between their nations. The visit was marked by discussions on significant upcoming anniversaries, notably the 50th anniversary of their defense collaboration in 2026 and the 60th anniversary of the Currency Interchangeability Agreement in 2027.
The leaders’ dialogue extended to various sectors, with a focus on expanding collaboration in areas such as energy, food security, and supply chain resilience. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of fostering people-to-people exchanges to strengthen the connection between their citizens.
