Vietnam, France Strengthen Economic Ties and Strategic Business Partnership

Date:

Vietnam and France are set to enhance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both nations pledging to bolster cooperation across various sectors. In recent discussions held in Hanoi, representatives from both countries assessed the current status of their bilateral relationship and committed to expediting the execution of their partnership’s action plan. This includes strengthening ties in diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure.

Vietnam has highlighted the importance of increased collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, critical minerals, and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnamese officials urged France to hasten the ratification process for the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). They also called on France to continue advocating for the removal of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which affects the nation’s seafood industry.

France, in turn, has identified Vietnam as a crucial strategic partner within the Asia-Pacific region. French authorities expressed a keen interest in broadening cooperation in fields like nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. Other areas of interest include healthcare and cultural exchanges, which are seen as vital components of their collaborative efforts.

Both Vietnam and France have committed to working closely on regional and global matters, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development in their joint endeavors. This partnership aims to address shared challenges and capitalize on opportunities that arise from a stronger cooperative relationship.
